Authorities in Niger State have taken six people into custody for the reported burglary of 59 computers and additional hardware from the ICT facility at Martin Sanda Girls Day Science College in Paiko. The theft was uncovered on June 21 by an NYSC member stationed at the school, who noticed a compromised window in the computer lab.
An initial audit of the room confirmed that 59 computers, 57 keyboards, a lithium solar battery, an inverter, and a power control unit were missing. The Divisional Police Officer in Paiko mobilized an investigation team immediately following the report. By leveraging intelligence reports, officers apprehended six suspects.
The detainees include Adamu Hamisu, Aminu Garba, Abdul Hamid Mikailu, school volunteer Idris Zakariya, corps member Ekene Asor Matthew, and security guard Abubakar Mohamed. Law enforcement officials noted that the inquiry is still active as they work to identify the specific actions of each participant and locate the stolen goods.
