Nigerian military apprehends alleged ISWAP operative in Borno

Operation Hadin Kai troops have detained Umar Isah, 37, on suspicion of acting as an informant for ISWAP in Borno State.

Members of Operation Hadin Kai recently captured a man suspected of spying for the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) while conducting a routine patrol in Borno State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the news via social media, identifying the detained individual as 37-year-old Umar Isah. Soldiers from the 154 Task Force Battalion took the Dawu village native into custody on June 20 during a standard morning mission designed to protect defensive zones from insurgent threats.

Although no prohibited items were discovered on his person during the initial apprehension, military officials stated that Isah is slated for transfer to the Military Intelligence Brigade of Sector 2. He will undergo deeper questioning there as part of a broader push by Operation Hadin Kai to degrade terrorist infrastructure, uncover local support networks, and restrict insurgent access to intelligence throughout the North-East region.
