Former Ondo State First Lady, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has officially won the Labour Party nomination to run for the Owerri Federal Constituency seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Upon being presented with her Certificate of Return, she thanked the party leadership for their trust.
Anyanwu-Akeredolu stated that this nomination marks a major step forward and a fresh commitment to public service. She plans to focus on community-level progress, aiming to engage deeply with her constituents to find practical ways to solve local development issues. She stressed that her primary goal as a candidate is to turn the concerns of local residents into effective legislative actions.
Addressing her previous departure from the Imo East senatorial race, she explained that she chose to step aside following deep discussions with party leaders. She believes this decision helps foster party unity and increases the Labour Party’s chances for success in 2027. She underscored that teamwork is vital for achieving electoral goals and representing the people effectively.
Her campaign agenda focuses on several key areas, including creating jobs, empowering the youth, and expanding access to digital skills training. She maintains that her shift to the House of Representatives race is a strategic move that aligns her long-term vision with the direct needs of the people in Owerri.
