Phyna: Nigerian Men Fear Confident, Independent Women
Josephine Otabor, widely known as Phyna and a former Big Brother Naija winner, has asserted that she remains single because Nigerian men are intimidated by confident and independent women.
During a recent Twitch livestream, the reality television personality explained that numerous Nigerian men favor partners they can easily control, often avoiding self-reliant women when seeking a life partner.
Phyna further clarified that outspoken women, like herself, are especially affected because many men form judgments based on their social media activity, deciding to steer clear of them even prior to meeting in person.
Despite this trend, the actress stated she is unconcerned, emphasizing that she will not change who she is to meet a man’s expectations.
“I am a perfect ten,” she stated. “The reality is that men are simply scared of bold and confident women. Some women, just by looking at them, you know you cannot control them. But Nigerian men prefer women they can dictate to.”
She added, “They do not want women who have opinions or are worldly. So, for those of us who are very open about our personalities, even without meeting us, they become fearful and make assumptions. But I truly don’t care.”
