Adamawa Police Flood Lamurde With Armed Officers As Curfew Takes Effect
The Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Dankwambo Morris, has ordered the deployment of additional heavily armed personnel to Lamurde Local Government Area following a fresh outbreak of communal violence.
The move comes after Governor Ahmadu Fintiri imposed a 24-hour curfew on the affected communities to curb the escalating unrest.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed that violent attacks erupted in the area on Sunday night, prompting swift security action.
The police warned residents of Lamurde to strictly obey the curfew order and remain indoors to prevent further deterioration of law and order.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police has reinforced the area with more operational assets to ensure full compliance with the curfew and maintain security using lawful means.
The command added that it is working closely with other security agencies to restore peace, while urging citizens to avoid any actions capable of threatening public safety.
SP Nguroje further cautioned that the police would not tolerate the activities of miscreants and troublemakers, stressing that all security operatives deployed to Lamurde must conduct their duties within the boundaries of the law.
