A family of four was discovered dead inside their $2 million home in San Francisco’s Westwood Highlands neighborhood on Wednesday, October 8.

Police were alerted at 1:23 p.m. after a relative, unable to reach the family, conducted a wellness check and found the bodies of his brother, sister-in-law, and their two children.

San Francisco Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene, where all four individuals were found unresponsive and pronounced dead.

“This appears to be suspicious, and that’s why our homicide investigators are leading the incident,” SFPD spokesperson Robert Rueca told the San Francisco Chronicle, adding that the case appears criminal but poses “no threat to the public.”

The SFPD Homicide Detail and the city’s medical examiner are conducting separate investigations. Authorities have not released the victims’ identities or details of the crime.

Neighbors said the children were girls aged eight and twelve. One neighbor, Belinda Hanart, described the family as quiet and friendly, noting she had seen less activity around the home in recent months but nothing unusual.

The residence, valued at approximately $2,050,000, features four bedrooms and three bathrooms. While investigators have not officially ruled the case a homicide, the investigation remains active.
