Gunmen K!ll Customs Officer in Kebbi State Attack
Gunmen suspected to be members of the Lakuwara group have k!lled a Customs officer stationed at the Fingila checkpoint in Dandi Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The attack occurred on Monday, September 15, 2025.
A resident of Fingila village, Malam Abdulrasheed, said the assailants had earlier raided nearby farms, seized food from farmers, and forced them to taste it before eating the rest. The gunmen then ordered the farmers to vacate their fields, warning that no farming would take place that day.
Abdulrasheed reported that the attackers, about seven in number, were armed with heavy weapons and riding motorcycles. After leaving the farms, they moved to the main road, where they saw a Customs officer sitting near a mosque and opened fire.
“The first shot missed, but the second hit him as he tried to run into a maize field. A third shot struck him fatally inside the field,” Abdulrasheed recounted.
Two other officers, who were hidden during the attack, managed to escape by crawling through the maize field but suffered minor injuries.
Locals said the slain officer was from Maiduguri, Borno State, and was well-known for sitting near the mosque.
