Ogun Revenue Agency Hails Dangote Cement Ibese For Tax Compliance Leadership

The Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) has commended Dangote Cement’s Ibese Plant for its outstanding record in tax compliance and its consistent role as the highest tax-paying industrial organisation in the state.

In a statement issued on Thursday, OGIRS Director of Field Operations, Mrs. Oluwaseun Olajube, gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the 12-million-metric-tonne cement facility in Ibese.

Olajube praised the company’s dedication to meeting its civic obligations, describing it as a benchmark for corporate responsibility and financial transparency in Ogun. She stressed that OGIRS remains committed to strengthening partnerships with industrial stakeholders to enhance revenue generation and drive sustainable economic growth.

“Dangote Cement Ibese Plant must continue to demonstrate excellence in tax compliance, and we are proud to acknowledge their contribution to the economic development of our state,” she said, while urging timely documentation and stronger collaboration with the agency’s Yewa North Zonal Office.

Leadership Beyond Numbers

Receiving the OGIRS delegation, Plant Director Mr. Ayyagari Subbaraidu expressed appreciation for the recognition, noting that the company’s tax record reflects more than financial figures.

“The recognition given to Dangote Cement is not just about numbers – it is about leadership, integrity, and the positive impact of responsible corporate citizenship,” he said.

Subbaraidu added that tax revenue is the “backbone of economic development” and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to compliance, accountability, and transparency in all engagements with government agencies.

Track Record Of Fiscal Responsibility

The commendation comes on the heels of broader national recognition of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) as Nigeria’s most tax-compliant business organisation. In 2024, DIL disclosed it paid over N402 billion in taxes, emerging as the country’s top taxpayer.

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) also named the conglomerate the most compliant taxpayer during its Special Day at the Lagos International Trade Fair, while FMDQ honoured it as the most active corporate organisation in the foreign exchange market.

Industry watchers say the latest recognition by OGIRS underscores the vital role of private sector compliance in sustaining public infrastructure, funding government obligations, and driving inclusive development.
