Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has urged residents and indigenes of the state to take part in the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ahead of the August 8, 2026 governorship election.

In a statement issued on Monday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor described voter registration as a crucial civic duty and encouraged all eligible voters to ensure they are properly registered.

He noted that the forthcoming election would play a decisive role in shaping Osun’s governance, stressing the need for mass participation.

“The 2026 governorship election is pivotal to the sustainable delivery of good governance in the state. Voters who may have lost or misplaced their cards should get new ones. We all must exercise our voting rights to sustain a listening and responsive administration,” Adeleke said.

The governor also appealed to Osun indigenes living outside the state to transfer their voter cards back home, adding that participation in the election was key to consolidating the “people-oriented leadership” of his administration.

“Our voting card is our weapon to prove that good governance is possible, as Osun has witnessed in the last two and a half years. We must update our details, vote, and protect our votes when the time comes,” he added.

Adeleke urged political leaders, local government officials, and community influencers to mobilize eligible voters for the CVR, while expressing confidence that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would ensure a smooth exercise.
