Nigerian Army Foils Boko Haram Bomb Plot On Dikwa–Marte Bridge
Troops of the Nigerian Army have thwarted an attempt by Boko Haram insurgents to plant improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on a strategic bridge along the Dikwa–Marte road in Borno State.
The operation triggered a fierce gun battle, culminating in the recovery of two large IEDs. This incident forms part of the broader counterinsurgency efforts by the Northeast Joint Task Force under Operation Hadin Kai.
Speaking with Channels Television, the Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsallam Abubakar, disclosed that within the last week, troops carried out deep clearance missions across the Lake Chad region, Sambisa Forest, and the Mandara Mountains. These operations led to the elimination of nine terrorists in Bama, Gwoza, and Konduga LGAs.
The coordinated offensive involves the Nigerian Army on the ground, Navy patrols around Lake Chad, and precision airstrikes by the Air Force. Alongside the recovered IEDs, troops also seized AK-47 rifles and PKT machine guns.
Major General Abubakar affirmed that the continued offensives are significantly bolstering security in the border communities surrounding Lake Chad.
