Tijani Onwenu, son of the late music icon Onyeka Onwenu, has commemorated the first anniversary of her passing with a brief but emotional tribute. Sharing a message on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, he wrote, “A year ago, today. RIP mom July 30, 2024.”

Known as the “Elegant Stallion,” Onyeka Onwenu tragically died after collapsing shortly after a performance at Mrs. Stella Okoli’s birthday celebration. She was rushed to Reddington Hospital in Lagos, where she was later confirmed dead.
