Club World Cup: Kompany Remains Optimistic As Bayern Get Ready To Face PSG In The Quarter-Finals
Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has shared his thoughts on his team’s upcoming clash with Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals of the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled for Saturday.
Kompany’s comments came after Bayern’s 4-2 victory over Flamengo in the Round of 16 on Sunday. The win was powered by a Harry Kane brace, alongside goals from Leon Goretzka and an own goal by Erick Pulgar.
With the win, the Bundesliga champions are set to face the Ligue 1 title holders in a highly anticipated last-eight showdown next weekend.
PSG had previously knocked out Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami with a commanding 4-0 win in the Round of 16.
Reacting after Bayern’s triumph over Flamengo, Vincent Kompany assured that his side would be well-prepared for the clash with PSG, noting that both teams are elite and promising an intense quarter-final encounter.
“We will assess what we need for that game [against PSG],” Kompany said at his post-match interview.
“Right now, the most important thing is to rest and rebuild our energy… Two top teams on a big stage, we will be ready for it,” he stated.
