Court Remands Two Brothers For Allegedly Insulting Police Officer In Oyo
A Grade ‘A’ Customary Court in Mapo, Ibadan, has ordered that two brothers, Usman Wasiu (20) and Toheeb Wasiu (26), be remanded at a correctional facility for allegedly insulting a police officer. The defendants pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and breach of peace. Presiding judge, Mrs. S.M. Akintayo, granted each of them bail set at ₦200,000, with two reliable sureties in the same amount. The sureties are required to present evidence of tax payment to the Oyo State government for the past three years and possess valid identification. The case was adjourned to July 2 for further hearing. Prosecution counsel, Inspector Ayodele Ayeni, stated that the alleged offence occurred around 12:30 a.m. on May 13 at the entrance of the Mapo Police Station in Ibadan.
