The Ogun State Police Command successfully conducted a series of operations across the state, resulting in the arrest of seven individuals and the recovery of various illegal items. Among the seized assets were a stolen Toyota Venza, three firearms, 17 mobile phones, a laptop, an operational vehicle, and 1.1 million Naira in cash.
DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the police spokesperson, confirmed that these actions took place in Ilaro, Ibafo, Mowe, Adatan, and Ode-Remo. The detained suspects—Bola Salau, Segun Balogun, Ankpa James, Tunde Ogunseye, Owodunni Seun, Emmanuel Friday, and Tunde Abioye—face charges ranging from armed robbery and fraud to cultism and illegal possession of weapons.
In Ilaro, officers identified two suspects driving a blue Toyota Venza, which was later determined to have been stolen during an armed robbery in Ede, Osun State, on June 23, 2026. Meanwhile, at Ibafo, police arrested Emmanuel Friday and Tunde Abioye for their role in a “one-chance” robbery scheme. The victim reported the theft of a Samsung phone and cash, leading officers to track the perpetrators to a hotel in Magboro, where their vehicle was also seized.
In other developments, authorities apprehended Ankpa James in Mowe for a 1.2 million Naira visa fraud scheme; 1.1 million Naira was subsequently returned to the victim. Additionally, a member of the Eiye cult was captured during a joint security operation where two pistols were confiscated. Lastly, in Ode-Remo, police interrupted an armed robbery targeting students, leading to the recovery of several mobile phones and weapons after the suspects escaped into the woods.
Command leadership under CP Bode Ojajuni remains focused on apprehending remaining suspects while ensuring community safety throughout Ogun State.
