The Edo State Police Command has arrested Mohammed Ihuenuma, a 50-year-old driver attached to a Special Adviser to Governor Monday Okpebholo, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in Benin City.

According to police spokesperson CSP Moses Yamu, the arrest followed a complaint by the victim’s father after the teenager reported multiple incidents of inappropriate touching by the suspect.

The driver, who frequently visited the family’s home on official errands, allegedly took advantage of these visits to molest the girl.

Tthe assaults occurred when the suspect would find the teenager alone at home. After enduring several incidents, the victim confided in her mother, who alerted the father and subsequently reported to authorities.

CSP Yamu confirmed the suspect is in custody and will face prosecution after thorough investigation. He urged the public to promptly report cases of sexual violence to enable swift police intervention.
