Carlo Ancelotti To Take Over As Brazil Manager From May 26
Carlo Ancelotti is set to take over as head coach of Brazil’s national team on May 26, following the conclusion of his season with Real Madrid.
At 65, Ancelotti will become Brazil’s first permanent foreign head coach and will lead the team in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Ecuador next month.
In a statement, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) described the appointment as a “landmark moment,” celebrating the union of two football giants—Brazil, with its record five World Cup titles, and Ancelotti, the most decorated coach in European club football and the only manager to have won the top-flight leagues in all five major European countries.
This marks Ancelotti’s first venture into international management. Brazil, the most successful national team in football history, has seen a revolving door of coaches recently—he will be their fifth head coach in just over two years, following the departure of Dorival Junior in March.
Ancelotti’s second stint with Real Madrid, which began in 2021, included winning both LaLiga and the Champions League twice.
However, following a recent El Clasico loss to Barcelona, Real Madrid are expected to end this season without any trophies. Ancelotti will step down after the club’s final La Liga match against Real Sociedad.
