Barcelona Set To Award Lamine Yamal Iconic No. 10 Shirt After Signing New Contract
Barcelona are preparing to award Lamine Yamal the legendary No. 10 shirt previously worn by Lionel Messi.
This decision comes after the 17-year-old agreed to sign a new contract with the LaLiga champions.
Yamal has quickly established himself as one of the top talents in Europe’s leading leagues this season and is considered a Ballon d’Or contender after helping Spain win the Euros last year.
According to Mail Sport, Barcelona regard the teenager as the most promising talent since Messi’s breakthrough nearly two decades ago.
Yamal will celebrate his 18th birthday in July by signing a long-term contract that includes a €1 billion release clause.
The deal will also see him take over the No. 10 jersey, currently worn by Ansu Fati.
Fati’s future at Barcelona remains uncertain, and Yamal—who has worn the No. 19 shirt this season—is set to inherit the iconic number.
