Zamfara State Government Outlines Use of World Bank SABER Funding

The Zamfara State Government is utilizing World Bank SABER funds to improve local infrastructure and business systems, including the establishment of new small claims courts.

The Zamfara State Government has confirmed that funding received through the World Bank’s State Enabling Business Environment Reforms (SABER) Programme is being directed toward state-wide development initiatives. Deputy Governor Mallam Mani Mummuni, speaking on behalf of Governor Dauda Lawal, detailed these efforts during the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) town hall engagement tour.

To bolster the local commercial sector, the administration is focusing on infrastructure projects tailored to support business needs. Mummuni noted that the state is actively improving systems within various agencies to facilitate a more favorable business climate. Specifically, the government has established four small claims courts across Gusau, Kaura Namoda, Gummi, and Talata Mafara to expedite the resolution of commercial disputes.

During the event, Barrister Jafar Shu’aibu highlighted the significance of simplifying the investment process for stakeholders. Furthermore, Sani Bukkuyum, the state’s PEBEC focal person, urged participants to contribute constructive suggestions to assist the government in fostering a robust and inclusive economy.
