Authorities in Ondo State have taken 33-year-old Adejoke Ayomide into custody for her alleged involvement in a visa scam that cheated over 90 victims. Based in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the suspect was detained after the police received a formal complaint from the law firm Akindayomi Oluwa Tobi & Associates.
Police spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh confirmed that Ayomide is accused of collecting approximately N42.3 million under the false promise of arranging travel visas to European destinations such as France, Portugal, and Spain. Victims reported that after sending their payments to the suspect’s Opay account, they were unable to reach her.
Law enforcement officials tracked Ayomide down and arrested her this past Wednesday. During initial questioning, she provided statements regarding her actions. Police continue to investigate the extent of the fraud and are looking for potential accomplices while the suspect remains in detention awaiting formal charges.
