Grammy Award-winning artist Ayodeji Balogun, widely recognized as Wizkid, is set to lead the inaugural night of the 2026 Detty December Festival. The event organizers, Livespot360, confirmed that the music icon will perform on December 18. This show serves as the official start of a 13-day celebration in Lagos that spans food, fashion, music, and cultural events through December 30.
This year, the festival organizers are adding a second performance area to the schedule. While Wizkid commands the main Festival Stage, the newly created Pulse Stage is designed to highlight rising artists and fresh sounds that are influencing the future of African music.
The 2026 event builds on the success of the 2025 launch, which drew a crowd of over 40,000 attendees. That inaugural festival hosted a diverse lineup of international and African acts, including Busta Rhymes, Tiwa Savage, and Diamond Platnumz. Organizers intend for this year’s iteration to offer a broader range of cultural and entertainment experiences, cementing Lagos as a central hub for Afrobeats and holiday festivities.
