Anna Morris and Jess Roberts achieved a remarkable one-two finish for Wales during the women’s 25km points race. Morris, a qualified doctor, secured her second gold of the event following an earlier victory in the individual pursuit and a bronze in the team pursuit alongside Roberts.
Dominating from the outset, Morris accumulated points in the initial three sprints. She further bolstered her lead by lapping the field, which earned her a 20-point bonus with approximately 60 laps remaining. Roberts similarly lapped the pack to improve her standing.
The competition saw the two teammates trade the lead multiple times during the latter half. Eventually, Morris pulled ahead by six points. By securing 10 points in the final sprint, Morris finished with a total of 66. Roberts managed to secure second place, finishing with a two-point cushion over the Australian bronze medalist, Georgia Baker.
