Keiron Assiratti will miss Wales’ upcoming summer international matches due to a calf problem. The Cardiff tight-head sustained the injury during a URC quarter-final loss to the Stormers in late May. This absence creates a challenge for the coaching staff, as they are already without Tomas Francis, who is taking a break, and Archie Griffin, who is recovering from surgery.
No replacement has been named for the 28-year-old at this stage. Options remaining at tight-head include Dillon Lewis, Sam Wainwright, and Ben Warren. Assiratti is the second player to withdraw from the selection after Louie Hennessey was sidelined with a shoulder issue.
Wales have a series of four matches ahead, starting with a game against the Barbarians on June 27. This will be followed by fixtures against Fiji, Argentina, and South Africa. The initial 48-man training squad has been trimmed down to 46 individuals.
