Wakefield Trinity halted the 11-game home victory streak of Super League titleholders Hull KR at Craven Park. Harvey Smith provided an early spark with a try, while substitute Caius Faatili scored twice in the second half to secure the win for the visitors.
Hull KR struggled to find momentum and failed to register a single try throughout the match. All of the Robins’ points originated from three penalty goals successfully kicked by Rhyse Martin. This result marks the first time in over a year that Hull KR has been defeated on their home turf, damaging their prospects in the current play-off campaign.
The match began with Trinity applying pressure, leading to Smith crossing the line from short range. Although Tyson Smoothy missed the initial conversion, Wakefield maintained a competitive edge despite a period where Ky Rodwell was sin-binned. Hull KR’s Peta Hiku also spent time in the bin during a difficult opening phase. By halftime, the game remained fragmented, with Smoothy and Martin trading penalty kicks.
Following the break, Faatili extended Wakefield’s lead by powering through Ryan Hampshire to score. Before the hour mark, Faatili struck again against lackluster defense to put the game out of reach. Despite a late effort from Mikey Lewis, a try was disallowed due to a knock-on by Joe Burgess, sealing a frustrating afternoon for the home side.
