Andrew Giuliani, the executive director of the White House’s World Cup task force, has indicated that the United States might pursue a bid to host the 2038 men’s World Cup. While the nation is currently co-hosting the 2026 tournament alongside Canada and Mexico, officials are already looking toward the future. Giuliani highlighted the country’s capacity to manage even larger formats, noting that should FIFA expand the competition to 64 teams, the US possesses the necessary infrastructure to handle such a scale.
Giuliani emphasized that the priority remains successfully concluding the 2026 tournament, which features 48 teams, before formalizing any future applications. He praised the country’s existing stadiums, which keep hosting costs significantly lower than in nations requiring extensive new construction. Despite recent challenges, including visa complications for Iranian staff and travel advisories from advocacy groups regarding immigration policies, Giuliani maintained that the US remains an exceptionally welcoming host for global visitors.
