UNIPORT Dismisses Viral Snake Report As False, Urges Public To Disregard Panic
The University of Port Harcourt has refuted viral social media claims that a large snake, described as a “deity,” was discovered and killed in its hostel or classroom. The false report, which circulated alongside a voice note, caused alarm among students, parents, and the wider public.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the university’s spokesperson, Dr. Sammy Kpenu, firmly denied the incident, labeling it misleading and baseless. He assured that no such event occurred on campus and reaffirmed that the university remains a safe and secure learning environment.
Kpenu urged the public to disregard the claims, describing the originators of the rumour as individuals seeking “cheap popularity” and online attention.
