Two Suspects Apprehended in Kano Following Tricycle Robbery

Kano police have arrested two men for drugging and robbing tricycle operators, recovering a stolen vehicle and linking the suspects to multiple similar crimes.

Authorities in Kano State have taken two men into custody for their alleged involvement in robbing tricycle operators. The individuals, identified as 26-year-old Usman Ashiru from Rijiyar Lemo and 28-year-old Abubakar Ali, were detained following an investigation into an attack on a local driver.

CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the police spokesperson, reported that the incident occurred on July 21, 2026. The victim, Abdulrahman Atula, 22, was reportedly deceived by the pair, who drugged him before stealing his vehicle. Officers from the Dala Police Division later located the stolen tricycle, which carries registration number AJG 170 VC and KAROTA number NSR 0709.

Atula is currently undergoing medical care at Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital. Beyond this specific case, police have linked the pair to ten additional robberies in the Dorayi and Bachirawa areas, where victims have confirmed their identities. The command is currently seeking further information from the public and encourages other potential victims to contact the Dala Police Division. Officials stated that efforts are ongoing to capture remaining gang members, and the suspects will face prosecution upon the conclusion of the inquiry.
