Two men, Victor Otache, 30, and 22-year-old Wisdom Abudu, were on Tuesday, September 23, arraigned before an Ebute Meta Magistrate Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing food items worth N2.5 million.

The defendants faced a four-count charge of conspiracy and theft before Magistrate Folashade Hughes.

According to police prosecutor Inspector Philomena Nnaji, the men conspired to steal rice, beans, palm oil, dressed chicken, fruits, garri, and other provisions belonging to a company in Lekki Phase 1, between April and September 14, 2025.

The alleged offences contravene Sections 411 and 287(7) of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

Both men pleaded not guilty. Defence counsel B. N. Nwaigwa urged the court to grant bail, which Magistrate Hughes approved at N500,000 each, with sureties in like sum.

The accused were remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Service, Ikoyi, pending the fulfilment of bail conditions. The matter was adjourned to October 14, 2025.
