Trump Media and Technology Group, the parent company of the Truth Social platform established by Donald Trump in 2022, reported a $238 million loss for the quarter ending in June. This figure represents a tenfold increase in losses compared to the same period in the previous year. While the company achieved $1.7 million in revenue—a rise of 89% from last year—the expansion into digital asset investments significantly impacted its overall financial performance.
Analyst Markus Thielen of 10x Research described the company as being effectively a cryptocurrency firm operating under the guise of a media business. While the firm currently holds $2 billion in total assets, including approximately $1.9 billion in cash and digital currencies, it has not yet reached profitability. The group maintains that it intends to refocus on its social media operations.
A primary strategy for future growth involves a new subscription service that grants traders early access to influential posts on Truth Social. Interim CEO Kevin McGurn confirmed that over ten clients have already subscribed. However, this initiative has sparked ethical and legal debates regarding the potential for the company—largely controlled by the former president’s family—to monetize his public statements for market advantage.
