The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the passing of the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Kajola Police Station, Odigbo Local Government Area, CSP Nimrod Anaka.
The confirmation was made on Wednesday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ayanlade Olushola, in a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria. While confirming the development, Olushola refrained from disclosing the exact circumstances surrounding the officer’s death, noting that only medical experts could determine the cause. He also stated that further personal details, such as Anaka’s age and state of origin, would be made public at a later time.
According to reports, the senior officer was said to have suddenly fallen ill on Tuesday and was being rushed to the hospital for urgent medical care when he passed away en route. His sudden demise came as a shock to his colleagues and subordinates, who were left in deep sorrow upon receiving the news.
Sources from within the Kajola Police Station revealed that the late DPO was widely respected for his leadership style and dedication to duty. They described him as a disciplined, approachable, and proactive officer who maintained a strong relationship with both his team and members of the local community. His death, they said, has left a significant vacuum in the command.
Following the incident, the body of CSP Anaka has been deposited at a mortuary pending further medical examination and official arrangements. The atmosphere at Kajola Police Station reportedly remains sombre, with officers and staff struggling to come to terms with the loss of their commanding officer.
The Ondo State Police Command is expected to release more information in the coming days as investigations and formal procedures surrounding his death continue.
