The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled seven-hour power outage affecting parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a statement, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, stated that the outage will take place on Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each day.

The disruption is due to annual preventive maintenance on two transformers at the Apo 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Abuja.

Mbah explained that the maintenance work will focus on the 2x100MVA, TR3 & TR4 transformers, temporarily preventing the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (Abuja DisCo) from receiving bulk power supply from them.

Several areas will be affected, including the National Hospital, G2 Injection Station, Garki, Area 1, and Asokoro. Other impacted locations include Apo Legislative Quarters, Apo Resettlement, Gudu, Apo Mechanic, and surrounding neighborhoods.

TCN assured customers that the maintenance is essential for ensuring a stable power supply and confirmed that electricity will be restored once the work is completed. The company also apologized for any inconvenience caused to residents and businesses.
