Dr. Mark Ma’aku Joshua, the Director-General of the Taraba Geographic Information Service (TAGIS), has issued a formal order banning all state Ministries, Departments, and Agencies from selling, leasing, or transferring government land without official authorization. Any land transactions conducted without state government approval will be considered invalid.
This policy, announced Monday in Jalingo, marks the beginning of rigorous enforcement regarding the Greater Jalingo Master Plan. The initiative seeks to regulate urban growth and safeguard public land within the state capital. TAGIS has officially mapped all territory within a 30-kilometre radius of Greater Jalingo, requiring that any development or allocation within this zone adhere strictly to government land-use standards and receive explicit clearance from the agency.
Dr. Joshua emphasized that enforcing this master plan is vital to prevent chaotic building projects, avoid conflicts over property rights, and foster sustainable infrastructure. He called upon local stakeholders, including traditional leaders, property developers, and the general public, to align with these new regulations as the administration works to ensure a structured and prosperous future for the capital region.
