The Nigeria Police Force has restated its dedication to safeguarding citizens and their assets by utilizing intelligence-driven and community-based law enforcement tactics. This announcement followed the official opening of the new Taraba State Police Command Headquarters and the B Division Yorro office in Jalingo.
These facilities were inaugurated on June 24, 2026. Retired Commissioner of Police Cyril Agyole Abeh performed the ceremony on behalf of Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas.
Moorkwap Sebastian Dongshal, the Commissioner of Police for Taraba State, represented the Inspector-General of Police at the gathering. He characterized these buildings as a major advancement for local policing infrastructure and operational capability. Dongshal noted that these additions will streamline command administration and allow for faster reactions to security threats throughout the state.
He further instructed personnel to maintain these new assets properly and to prioritize professionalism, discipline, and human rights while on duty. Speaking for the Governor, Abeh praised the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) for their contributions, noting that the infrastructure will support both public safety and economic development.
Alhaji Muhammad Sheidu, Executive Secretary of the NPTF, stated that these projects address vital infrastructure needs. He confirmed that the Fund intends to continue investing in equipment, training, and facilities to improve officer welfare. The event saw attendance from various government officials, traditional leaders, and local stakeholders.
