Taraba PDP faction loyal to Wike asserts its status as the rightful leadership

The Wike-aligned PDP faction in Taraba state is asserting its legitimacy, issuing certificates to candidates while criticizing the current governor’s performance.

The Taraba state branch of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporting Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is standing by its claim as the official party leadership. During a weekend ceremony, state chairman Ibrahim Abba Sale handed out certificates of return to 24 candidates running for the Taraba State House of Assembly.

Sale emphasized that this faction is the legitimate authority within the PDP. He pointed out that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) observed the primary elections that resulted in the nomination of these candidates. According to Sale, the faction has secured nominees for every seat in the State House of Assembly, all six House of Representatives positions, and the gubernatorial race, where Senator Emmanuel Bwacha leads the ticket.

Addressing the candidates, Sale encouraged them to stay focused on their democratic goals. He also criticized Governor Agbu Kefas, alleging that his administration has not provided sufficient benefits to the public. He concluded by asking Taraba residents to vote for the PDP in the upcoming contests, as the group continues to navigate a long-standing internal power struggle.
