Marvelous Isaac, identified by authorities as the head of a kidnapping syndicate, has refuted all criminal charges against him. During his trial before Justice Terry Aigbona Momodu at the Edo State Special Criminal Court, the 32-year-old insisted he earns his living as an electrician.
Isaac faced intense cross-examination from Edo State Attorney-General Prof. Roland Otaru regarding his alleged involvement in multiple abductions, including a June 2026 incident at a Benin City vegetable market. Alongside three co-defendants—Wisdom Michael, Rufus Emete Michael, and his girlfriend, Gift Raphael—he faces ten counts related to kidnapping, armed robbery, cult activities, and illegal possession of weapons.
The defendant claimed he lacks knowledge of how to drive and does not own a vehicle. He specifically rejected allegations that he orchestrated kidnappings on Siluko Road, near Ekenwa Army Barracks, and along Ekehuan Road between 2025 and 2026. These accusations involve significant ransom payments and the theft of luxury items, such as a Lexus RX 350 SUV. Justice Momodu has scheduled the next hearing for August 5, 2026. Stephen Okoror, representing the Ministry of Justice, stated that the prosecution remains confident in the judicial process despite the defendant’s denials.
