Supporters advised to avoid Philadelphia Stadium for France-Iraq match amid severe weather

Severe weather alerts have prompted officials to ask fans to avoid traveling to the Philadelphia Stadium for the upcoming France vs. Iraq World Cup match.

Spectators planning to attend the 2026 World Cup match between France and Iraq at Philadelphia Stadium have been urged to stay away. Severe local weather conditions, including heavy rain and lightning, have disrupted preparations for this Group I fixture.

Lincoln Financial Field officials issued a statement on X indicating that gate openings are postponed indefinitely. Those who have not yet reached the area are explicitly asked not to travel. Attendees already near the facility are advised to seek cover immediately.

Although the 17:00 local time kick-off remains scheduled, the match could face its first delay of the tournament. Official protocols dictate that if lightning is identified within an eight-mile radius, the game must be suspended for 30 minutes and fans moved to secure zones. Despite downpours three hours before the start, no formal postponement of the match time has been declared yet.
