Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, has officially inaugurated the Iru Ekun Security Network in Ilorin, Kwara State. The activist declared that the mission of this group is to reclaim local forests from bandit groups and prevent criminals from utilizing these areas as hideouts. During the launch at Igbomina House, Igboho clarified that his organization is intended to support, not replace, state-sanctioned security forces in curbing violence, kidnapping, and banditry.
Addressing rumors regarding his relationship with the state leadership, Igboho stated that he believes Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq supports efforts to improve regional security. He expressed confidence in the governor’s commitment to public safety, noting that security agencies have been deployed to protect citizens from ongoing threats. Furthermore, Igboho lauded Kwara State Commissioner of Police Adekimi Ojo for his professional cooperation during past joint operations.
The security network plans to prioritize operations in Babanla and Eruku, areas identified as significant hotspots for criminal activity. Igboho emphasized that the initiative is not ethnically motivated, stating clearly that their target is criminals of all backgrounds, not the Fulani community. He urged local residents and youth to assist by reporting informants who aid bandits, while stressing that the group intends to maintain close coordination with the Nigeria Police Force and the military.
Finally, Igboho credited President Bola Tinubu for the atmosphere that allowed for the formation of this security project and expressed his full cooperation with existing legal frameworks to ensure peace across the state.
