Stray Bullet Kills Tricycle Rider Outside Brothel In Lagos
A tricycle rider has lost his life to a stray bullet outside a brothel in the Badore area of Ajah, Lagos State, in what police sources suspect to be a cult-related shooting.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, October 12, 2025, left residents of the community in shock. PUNCH Metro gathered that the yet-to-be-identified victim had gone to the brothel to unwind after a long day’s work but was hit by a stray bullet moments after stepping out to buy an item from a nearby shop.
According to eyewitnesses, several assailants, believed to be members of a cult group, stormed the area in a blue Toyota Corolla and began shooting indiscriminately. One of the bullets reportedly struck the tricycle rider, killing him instantly.
A police source who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed that the man had only stepped outside the brothel to buy bottled water when the shooting erupted.
“He was just unlucky. The men started shooting aimlessly as they drove by, and a bullet hit him on the spot,” the source said.
Residents claim the attack was part of an ongoing clash between rival cult groups in the area.
“The shooting was clearly cult-related,” said a witness who requested anonymity. “They were not after him; he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, said the deceased’s body was discovered the following morning and later handed over to his family for burial.

“The attention of the police was called to the scene in the morning. His body was found and taken to the morgue. The family has since collected it for burial,” Adebisi stated.
The incident adds to a worrying rise in cult-related violence across Lagos and other parts of the country. Earlier this month, PUNCH Metro reported the killing of a recent graduate, Taoreed, who was struck by a stray bullet during a clash between rival cult groups in Osun State, another grim reminder of Nigeria’s growing security challenges.
