During the contest, Clark was subjected to multiple physical altercations, including an incident involving Alyssa Thomas that went unpenalized despite visible contact to the neck and groin area.
Shortly thereafter, Clark suffered a back injury while being fouled on a three-point attempt. Rather than focusing on the foul, officials opted to review a potential hostile act by Clark herself. Expressing her frustration, White emphasized that the league must ensure consistent treatment for their star players, noting that Clark is not being officiated with the same standards applied to the rest of the league. Following her injury, the 24-year-old was unable to return to the game.
This match followed a contentious encounter between the two teams earlier in the week. White described the physical play as dangerous and stated that the repetitive nature of these fouls has reached a breaking point. Clark, a standout talent who was selected first overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft, continues to face significant attention on the court as she navigates her professional career.
