The St. Kitts and Nevis Citizenship Unit is set to launch its inaugural biometric collection facility in Lagos, Nigeria, scheduled for the week starting July 13. Official confirmation will be provided once the site is ready for public service.
This Lagos location serves as the first African site integrated into the National Biometric Enrolment and Passport Modernisation Programme. This expansion simplifies the process for regional citizens who were previously required to travel abroad for enrolment. Established on April 14, 2026, the programme is a joint effort by the Ministry of National Security, Citizenship and Immigration and the Citizenship Unit.
By implementing these changes, the Federation brings its travel credentials in line with international security standards utilized by the U.S., the U.K., and the European Union. This move is part of a broader expansion effort that includes a recent opening in the Washington D.C. area, with additional sites planned for Singapore, Jeddah, and Iraq.
The government emphasizes that all biometric data remains secure within encrypted systems under state control. All individuals who acquired citizenship via the St. Kitts and Nevis Citizenship Programme are mandated to finalize their biometric enrolment by July 31, 2027. While existing passports remain valid during this transition, future travel will require biometric-enabled documents. Sessions typically last between 15 and 30 minutes, and must be arranged exclusively via the official government portal. Third-party services are unauthorized.
To proceed, citizens must contact an Authorised Agent to receive a unique registration link and code, then register on the official platform using their Certificate of Registration number. Appointments should be booked once the Lagos location is live. Applicants must present their current passport for identification during the appointment; the document will not be confiscated.
