By the end of June, Spotify reached 777 million monthly active users, marking an increase of 16 million from the prior quarter, though this figure fell slightly short of original predictions. The Swedish firm indicated that growth might decelerate in the third quarter, projecting an addition of approximately 11 million new paid subscribers. This outlook led to a 2.6 percent drop in the company’s stock value on the New York Stock Exchange.
The company successfully grew its paid subscriber base to 300 million, surpassing analyst expectations by one million and showing an increase of seven million compared to the previous quarter. Financial performance remained strong, with operating profits climbing 61 percent year-over-year to 655 million euros. Revenue also grew by 14 percent, reaching 4.8 billion euros.
Co-CEO Alex Norstrom characterized the business as healthy and emphasized the platform’s versatility in daily life. To sustain momentum, Spotify is introducing features like AI-driven Personal Podcasts and offering exclusive concert ticket access to its top paying subscribers.
