The Sokoto State Police Command has taken several youths into custody regarding the death of 27-year-old Fatima Bizo in Yarume village, located in the Wamakko Local Government Area. Authorities are investigating allegations that the woman was gang-raped before she died.
Local accounts suggest the attackers may have strangled the victim with a rope, though the official cause of death is still being determined by police. Bizo has already been laid to rest following traditional Islamic burial practices.
DSP Ahmad Rufai, the spokesperson for the state police, confirmed that those arrested are currently held at the Criminal Investigation Department.
