Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi recently labeled the Arewa people as civilized and suggested that regional organizations like the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) should follow their example. Gumi shared these sentiments in a social media update on Sunday.
While the cleric provided no further explanation for his statement, the remark followed public comments by Boniface Ndukwe, the Eze Ndigbo of Kano State. Discussing the integration of the Igbo community within the region, Ndukwe noted that many Igbo residents have fully established themselves in Kano.
Ndukwe emphasized the depth of these ties during a video appearance, stating that the Igbo population has contributed trillions of naira in investments to the state. He asserted that they no longer view themselves as temporary residents but as permanent stakeholders in Kano.
