In an effort to curb narcotics usage and criminal activity, the Kano State Anti-Phone Snatching Squad detained seven people during a recent operation at Mahaha Stadium. The action was part of a broader state-wide strategy to tackle street crime and substance abuse.
Command spokesperson Ibrahim Garba Ahmad confirmed the arrests on Wednesday. He noted that the operation was prompted by reliable reports regarding the distribution and use of illegal substances within the stadium grounds. Acting on instructions from squad leader Nura Salisu Sharada, a unit commanded by DC Abduljalal Sa’id Muhammad executed the raid.
Officers witnessed individuals engaging in the open sale of illicit items, such as Sholisho and Madarar Sukudayi. While the dealers managed to escape, seven customers were caught on-site. The raid falls under the “Damisa Ki Sabo” initiative, which seeks to clear out criminal elements from the region. Commander Sharada has since transferred the seven detainees to the Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for continued investigation and legal proceedings.
