Seriake Dickson Claims Efforts Are Underway to Undermine Opposition Parties

Nigeria Democratic Congress leader Seriake Dickson warns that external forces are actively working to destabilize opposition parties through calculated efforts.

Seriake Dickson, the national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has alleged that deliberate attempts are being made to fracture opposition political parties within the country. He shared these observations during an appearance on the Channels Television program Sunday Politics.

His remarks followed a ruling by the Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, which mandated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) grant the NDC official registration. Dickson expressed concern that individuals are manufacturing weak justifications to destabilize and weaken the opposition front.

Reflecting on challenges faced by other organizations, Dickson referenced an incident involving the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the interference surrounding its leadership transition. He emphasized that the NDC has put significant effort into building a platform featuring charismatic and credible leadership, and he described the current legal pressures as a troubling development for the growing party.
