Scottie Scheffler’s historic streak of cuts ends at Genesis Scottish Open

World number one Scottie Scheffler has missed the cut at the Genesis Scottish Open, ending an impressive streak of 78 consecutive tournaments without an early exit.

Scottie Scheffler’s remarkable run of 78 consecutive made cuts has concluded after 1,428 days. The world number one, who had not finished outside the top 25 in any tournament since early 2024, failed to progress at the Genesis Scottish Open held at the Renaissance Club.

Entering the tournament with hopes of securing a victory on Scottish soil, Scheffler finished his second round with a two-over 72. His final-hole bogey sealed his departure, leaving him at level par while the projected cut sat at two under. This marks his first missed weekend on the PGA Tour since the 2022 FedEx St Jude Championship.

Reflecting on the performance, the 30-year-old American noted that the course was challenging and that he felt his play was not fundamentally poor despite the result. He will now turn his attention toward preparing for his title defense at The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.

Elsewhere, Jordan Smith took the clubhouse lead at nine under following a round of 63. Matt Fitzpatrick also performed strongly, carding a 65 to reach eight under, noting that his current form is the best of his career. Meanwhile, Jon Rahm improved to two under, while Ludvig Aberg is expected to miss the cut by a single stroke.
