A helicopter incident in the eastern Saudi Arabian city of Ras Tanura has resulted in the deaths of 14 people. According to reports from the Saudi Press Agency, the aircraft, operated by the oil company Aramco, went down at 06:00 local time on Sunday morning.
All individuals on board were Saudi nationals, and authorities have launched an inquiry to identify what caused the disaster. The Saudi energy ministry has formally expressed its sympathies to the grieving families.
Ras Tanura hosts a significant Aramco oil refinery, recognized as one of the most substantial facilities of its kind in the Middle East. Reuters noted that operations for crude oil loading recently recommenced at the refinery this past Friday, following a suspension of nearly four months linked to regional conflict.
