Football London reports that legendary former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla could be set for a surprising return to the club. Having recently retired from professional play at 41, the Spaniard is being linked to a potential coaching position within the North London side.
Cazorla ended his illustrious career at his boyhood club, Real Oviedo, after spells in England, Spain, and Qatar. While he remains a popular figure among Arsenal supporters, recurring injuries unfortunately disrupted his final years at the Emirates Stadium. The connection between the two parties has remained strong; Cazorla previously confirmed he held informal talks with current manager Mikel Arteta regarding a future role once his playing days concluded.
Speaking to Sky Sports earlier in 2024, Cazorla noted his deep fondness for Arsenal and acknowledged that the club has always welcomed the idea of his return. Arteta has also previously praised the versatility and character of his former teammate. With his retirement now official, anticipation is building that the former international may soon transition into a backroom role under Arteta.
