Veteran Polish striker Robert Lewandowski is nearing a transfer to the MLS team Chicago Fire. The 37-year-old, who became a free agent following the conclusion of his contract with Barcelona, is expected to finalize a two-year agreement. Chicago Fire has maintained interest in the forward since December, holding his rights on the league’s discovery list to prevent competing bids.
Despite interest from AC Milan and clubs in the Saudi Pro League, Lewandowski is poised to join the Chicago side, which would be a significant signing given the city’s large Polish population. Throughout his distinguished career, the former Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund star secured 10 Bundesliga titles, a Champions League trophy, and three La Liga titles with Barcelona. Although he netted 120 goals in 193 matches for the Spanish club, recurring fitness issues limited his playing time last season.
Barcelona has begun moving on, recently acquiring Anthony Gordon from Newcastle. Meanwhile, the club is exploring potential signings such as Harry Kane to bolster their squad.
