Reverend Funke Felix-Adejumo advises husbands against burnout in marriage

Reverend Funke Felix-Adejumo tells married men to prioritize their health over the impossible task of fully pleasing their wives while encouraging women to achieve financial independence.

Nigerian preacher and marriage counselor Reverend Funke Felix-Adejumo has cautioned married men against exhausting themselves in a futile quest to fully satisfy their wives. During a recent sermon, she emphasized that while husbands should maintain their domestic responsibilities, they must prioritize their health rather than sacrificing their lives to meet impossible standards.

The cleric noted that women possess an inherent desire for constant improvement, pointing to trends like artificial nails, eyebrow grooming, and hair extensions as evidence of this shifting preference. She argued that if even divine creation does not fully satisfy these desires, it is unrealistic for a husband to expect to do so. She urged men to perform their duties diligently without succumbing to excessive self-imposed pressure.

Addressing the congregation, Felix-Adejumo also advised women to pursue financial independence. She cautioned against total reliance on a partner for resources, encouraging wives to build their own wealth so they can contribute to the household and provide gifts for their spouses. Drawing on her own life, she highlighted a time she celebrated her husband’s 60th birthday with 61 individual presents. Her message concluded with a call for women to outgrow the habit of waiting for their partners to provide everything, instead focusing on personal professional growth.
