Real Madrid has secured the services of Dutch defender Denzel Dumfries, finalizing a four-year contract with the Inter Milan full-back. Although the official financial details remain undisclosed, reports indicate that the Spanish club triggered a release clause valued at 20 million euros, approximately 17.1 million pounds.
This addition marks the fourth acquisition of the summer for Madrid, following the arrivals of Ibrahima Konate, Bernardo Silva, and Marc Cucurella. The 30-year-old Dumfries will provide direct competition for the right-back position alongside England international Trent Alexander-Arnold. Since his 2021 arrival from PSV, Dumfries was a key figure at Inter, helping the club secure two Serie A titles and three Coppa Italia trophies. During his 207-game tenure with the Nerazzurri, he recorded 28 assists and 27 goals, while also representing the Netherlands on 76 occasions and aiding their run to the World Cup round of 32.
The move follows a trophy-less season for the Spanish giants. Club president Florentino Perez, who recently won re-election, committed to bolstering the defense while also appointing Jose Mourinho for a second term as manager.
